About Kinvara
 

Kinvara is a beautiful village set on the shores of Galway bay, midway between the rugged Burren area and Galway City. Our most famous landmark is the stunning Dunguire Castle that overlooks the town.

Kinvara has had a long association with the sea, for centuries it has been a vibrant fishing village and trading center. The Majestic Galway "Hookers" (Traditional West of Ireland cargo vessels) sailed from Connemara with cargo's of Turf ( peat) in exchange for local farming produce.

This voyage is commemorated each year in the villages' Cuinniú na mBád festival.
